From Screen to Tabletop: Games for Video Gamers

The 'Gaming Community' has come leaps and bounds over the years. As a gamer myself, I know our community is growing at such a fast pace, putting each type of gamer into a smaller category. Although we are united, video gamers looking to transition into the world of tabletop games often have no idea where to start. I've found many would love the opportunity to expand into another area of our forever growing industry but also don't know how to make the jump.

There are so many relevant products in the tabletop gaming world that we can connect to as video gamers! These products make the transition easier, giving the comfort-ability without the feeling of being lost, and keep us connected to our favourite games and characters, just on a different platform. There is a world of games outside of the constructs of a console, ready to be discovered and loved by video gamers.

Players: 3-5 Players

Playing time: 30-45 minutes

Suggested age: 14+

Bloodborne: The Card Game allows characters to battle it out with monsters big and small,  that reside in the ever-changing tombs and catacombs of the fallen city of Yharnam.

Take turns where one monster chosen at random attacks players and they are then forced to fight back as a team. They pull a card from their hand simultaneously to attempt to kill the monster - cooperatively. However, monsters do not stay dormant: they fight back. Players will need to hold back on quick game-play and think tactically about how they want to tackle each beast accordingly!

True to the brutality of the PlayStation 4 game of Bloodborne, players are able to fight enemies for as long as they choose. However, if this character dies in battle, their progress will be lost. If you are going to play Bloodborne, you play in the true style of any Bloodborne/Dark Souls veteran: Brutally.

REASONS TO BUY

  • Fun, but intense

  • Simple and engaging

  • True and dark to the Bloodborne universe

SPECIFICATIONS

Players: 2-7 Players

Playing time: 120+ minutes

Suggested age: 13+

Just in case you don’t want to stray too far from classic tabletop games but want to obtain the interest of both video games and tabletop games combined. Fortnite Monopoly is something that would be sure to ignite interest in any Fortnite Fan.

Build walls, pick up health packs and damage your opponents. This is a little different to building houses in monopoly, however, the concept of monopolising areas on the board is still present. Pass Go and unleash the Storm - but be careful - avoid this and you will lose your HP. Just like it stands in the video game - the last person standing in this battle royale - is the true winner.

REASONS TO BUY

  • Familiar to classic board gamers

  • Hybrid version of two games makes it extremely engaging

  • Competitive play
