Most well-known for Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop are often a player’s first experience with tabletop wargaming and as such their games are loved by many. The popularity of 40K and AoS has led to several spinoff games being created such as Kill Team, The Horus Heresy and even whole new games like Blood Bowl and Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game.

However it’s not just miniatures that Games Workshop offer, under the brand names of Citadel Colour and Black Library. For more in-depth guides on what Games Workshop have to offer, read below.

As well as Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop offer a wide range of speciality games such as The Horus Heresy, Blood Bowl, Necromunda and Middle-Earth.

The Horus Heresy

The Horus Heresy as a war game plays vastly different to the current flagship wargame of Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000. The Horus Heresy uses a modified version of Warhammer 40,000 7th edition rule set, and this works really well in its favour giving players some new unique rules such as the reaction system that simulates the fast-paced nature of war in The Horus Heresy.

Blood Bowl

Blood Bowl is an American football-themed grid-based skirmish game set in the Old World also known as Warhammer Fantasy. Blood Bowl’s tight ruleset reflects a clear NFL inspiration, also seen through its wide range of unique teams all with their own personality and mechanics that you have come to expect from Games Workshop such as Imperial Nobility, Kara Temple Harpies and Nurgle's Rotters.

Necromunda

Set in the grimdark of an Underhive where the lower depths are rife with war from rival gangs, known as houses, all vying to control and expand their territories. Necromunda is a campaign-driven tabletop skirmish game with not just a wide variety in choices of gangs but also a vast amount of customization available with its levelling-up system.

Middle-earth

The Lord of the Rings Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game, as the name suggests, takes place in the Lord of the Rings universe and lets you form armies of your favourite characters from the books and films from either the good or bad side. This game is perfect for fans of the franchise or fantasy fans as a whole.

Miniatures may be their forte, but Games Workshop also offers a wide range of other products. For all your hobby supply needs Citadel offers a great selection of paints, brushes and other tools and Black Library offers novels that tie into their 40k and AoS lore.
