Wayland Games Supporting the British Library’s New Exhibition

Wayland Games is proud to be supporting a major new exhibition at the British Library, opening this autumn, that will explore the evolution of fantasy. From ancient folklore and fairy tales, gothic horror and weird fiction, to live-action role-playing games inspired by fantasy worlds, Fantasy: Realms of Imagination will aim to celebrate the genre and its enduring impact.

For over a decade Wayland Games has enabled our customers to journey into fantastical tabletop gaming worlds, filled with mythical creatures inspired by iconic stories in fantasy literature. By supporting the British Library’s exhibition, we are helping to bring fantasy to a wider audience and offering them the chance to journey into worlds filled with the magic and adventure fantasy fans all know and love.

The exhibition, running from October 27th 2023 to February 25th 2024, will take visitors on a journey through a wide variety of fantastical worlds imagined by writers, artists, and creators spanning a vast array of centuries and continents. Visitors will get to see a treasure trove of over 100 items, including works from the likes of Neil Gaiman, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Terry Pratchett, clips from iconic fantasy film, television, and video games including Princess Mononoke, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dark Souls, and Skyrim, alongside props from The Dark Crystal and The Lord of the Rings.

We’re delighted that this exhibition celebrates the role of fantasy, and its fans, inspiring those who visit to continue their fantasy journey through literature, film, television, and tabletop gaming.
