Sourcing UK-based Suppliers and Sustainable Solutions

We are well into our journey of going green at Wayland Games and continue to search and find ways to improve our Green Initiative. This time, we cast our eyes back to the manufacturing department to take a look at how we have further improved our manufacturing processes.

In our last Green Initiative blog regarding manufacturing (Keeping it Green in Manufacturing), we explored how plastic waste material created by our plastic injection machine is recycled, but plastic isn’t the only material used when creating Warcradle Studios miniatures. With a specialist team of master mould makers, we produce resin models in-house so we can fully control the quality of the product and find ways that resin can be sustainably sourced.

This begins with changing our supplier to a UK-based supplier, which means no freighting is required, our carbon footprint is reduced, and we become a more UK-based manufacturer, helping contribute to the UK Economy.

Changing the location of our supplier and reducing our emissions is only the beginning of what we are trying to achieve. Resin is a by-product from the Petrol Industry and the point of our Green Initiative is to try our best to move away from using nonrenewable energy sources. This is why we are in the process of testing Bio (Sustainably Sourced) Resins and keeping in touch with companies who are in the race to create Bio and Recyclable Resins.
