As a company, the Wayland Games team are seasoned gamers, so naturally, there is an air of competitiveness in the office. We aren’t just limited to getting our competitive fix by playing tabletop games! You may have seen our Center Parcs Blog where many of us took part in activities (as well as the inevitable gaming) together to earn bragging rights back at headquarters. 

This time, we encouraged everyone to dust off their cooking aprons, crack out the secondary school food tech knowledge, and try their hand at baking. This event, paired with our Summer Quiz, made for a fun-filled afternoon of taste-testing sweet and savoury bakes and working together in teams of 6 to try and prove which team is best at quizzes.

Not only was this a fantastic team-building event, it was all for a great cause. If you have read our blog ‘Wayland Games Fundraising For Mental Health UK’ you will know that we have started fundraising efforts for the charity Mental Health UK, where you can also help us raise money for a fantastic cause here on our JustGiving donation page.

Bake Off: 

There is nothing that entices the staff together more than the promise of free, homemade bakes, so as you can imagine, this was a very popular event. The categories and rules were as follows:

The Bake Off Theme: Picnic, Be Creative!

Sweet or savoury, which had to be HOMEMADE goods such as:

• Mocktail Drinks 

• Sandwiches with Homemade Bread 

• Homemade Scones with Clotted Cream and Jam 

• Homemade Scotch Eggs 

• Homemade Sausage Rolls 

The categories this year were:

• Overall Best Tasting Bake

• Overall Best Looking Showstopper
